We love sharing our favourite things on Fun Friday. This week we got to see lots of interesting treasures. We are learning to use a clear voice when we tell our buddies about our special things and we try to tell lots of interesting details. We have to use super listening skills when we are listening to our buddies and we can think of questions to ask them.
We are a NE/ Year 1 class from Manchester Street School in Feilding, NZ. We are looking forward to sharing our learning with you.

Junior Assembly
This week at Junior Assembly these wonderful learners were awarded certificates. They have been doing some great story writing and learning lots of new words. Harold the friendship trophy is awarded for being a great friend, and following red part of the rainbow by using kind words and actions.

Super Sloths
This week is Fynn's first week of school. His favourite animal is a sloth. We didn't know much about sloths so we headed to you tube to find out some interesting facts.Look at these clips and see if you can find out an interesting fact.

We have been making great choices at reading time. Today, at Daily 5 reading time, Molly and Annelise finished this whole puzzle by matching pictures with the first letter of the word. Annelise took a photo to share their great learning choices. Tino pai girls.
Nice nests
This week some of our Room F learners are learning about the letter n. Lots of words start with the letter n like... Nose, nest, nail, needle, neck and nice. Look at the nests they made, they look neat.

Maui's Dolphin
Our canvas has been sold! All of the money raised in the silent auction is being donated to the WWF to help protect this endangered species of dolphin. We are really happy that our canvas will be going to Kate's house. She said she might put it in her bedroom! Thank you to all the families that put in a bid.
Numbers Everywhere...
Today during maths time James has been working with numbers to ten. Look at the great sequencing he has done at choosing time...WOW.
Groovy Glasses
This week some of Room F are learning about the letter g. It is a tricky letter to write so we have been practicing a lot. There are lots of things that begin with the letter g, like ... Gorilla, gate, guitar, glove, green, garden and glasses. Today we made groovy glasses. We think they look great. What do you think?

Wobbly Jelly
This week we have been learning about the letter j. We learned a poem about jelly.
J is for jelly.
Wobble, wobble, wobble.

Gobble, gobble,gobble.
On Thursday we made some jelly. It smelled yummy as we stirred it to dissolve the sugar. On Fun Friday we got to eat the wibbly, wobbly jelly. We got to pick from red, green or orange. It was so yummy we enjoyed gobbling it all up!

Happy Birthday to You
On Fun Friday it was Q Bears Birthday. He was six years old. We invited all our teddies. It was fun making party hats for them. We had birthday cake and we made iced biscuits with lollies on top. At the end of the day Q Bear gave us a balloon to take home, thanks Q Bear.
Great Learners

Buddy Time
On Friday we went with Room D to see our big buddies in Room L. They shared their scientific learning with us about change. We got to see an experiment about how coca cola reacts when you add mentos mints.

Get Set Go
Today we started the Get Set Go fundamental physical skills programme. We learned some fun games with Carla that practiced skills like balancing, jumping and lots and lots of moving. We went snake hunting and played the party hat game. We loved all the activities, thanks Carla, we can't wait till next week.

Work on Writing
We like spending time at the writing table to practice our writing. We are learning to make letters the correct size and form them correctly. Look at the shopping list we wrote to practice our writing.

This week we have been learning about the letter m.
We thought of lots of things that begin with the letter m like... Mum, milk, money, make up,
Miira- Rose, mountains, monsters and monkey's. We watched a clip of a very cute monkey learning how to play and climb. Then we made our own cheeky monkey's. Check out the clip.
We also read a book called The Monsters Party .We had fun on Friday making our own crazy monsters.

Making Boats
On fun Friday we had lots of fun making boats with Room D. We have be
learning about the letters b and f. There were lots of creative ideas
like flags, sails, seats, wheels and motors. Everyone was really great
at trying new things. After lunch we launched our boats to see if they would float. They all did!
